Throughout your life, it is not uncommon to experience periods of turbulence, making it challenging to manage your emotions and behaviour. While it might not seem like it, your emotions actually can be controlled, even when life appears anything BUT controllable. The way you react to certain stressors doesn’t have to be negative, instead, you can learn to channel your feelings into proactive behaviours. Stride offers individual and group counselling services that can help you to gain mastery over your emotions, providing you with the tools to remain positive and calm, even while navigating through painful stressors.
Counselling helps people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in order to live more fulfilling and prosperous lives. At Stride, we provide a supportive environment to talk openly and confidentially about concerns and feelings.
We use a collaborative approach and a combination of evidenced-based therapies to guide our practice, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).
While it depends on the individual, we typically recommend 8 to 10 counselling sessions. These sessions are typically scheduled weekly at first but taper off to bi-weekly as individuals learn how to better regulate their emotions and behaviour.
*We currently offer counselling at a rate of $150-220/hour.
***Many extended healthcare insurance benefits cover the cost of counselling either partially or in full.***
