SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL ASSESSMENTS CALGARY

A Social-Emotional Assessment is conducted to better understand an individual’s inner experience, including their emotions, thoughts, coping patterns, and sense of self in relation to the world around them. It is recommended when an individual is experiencing emotional concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression) and/or behavioural difficulties that may be impacting their day-to-day functioning. These assessments do not include formal testing of cognitive or academic abilities.

A Social-Emotional assessment includes the following components:

• Clinical interviews 
• Review of relevant records (e.g., prior assessments, school or work-related reports, if applicable) 
• Information about functioning across multiple environments (e.g., home, school, and/or work), gathered through self, parent, teacher, or other observer questionnaires and/or rating scales, as appropriate 
• A feedback meeting to review results and recommendations 
• A detailed written report 
• Individualized recommendations to support functioning across settings
