ABOUT SPEECH AND LANGUAGE ASSESSMENTS


At Stride Psychology, we offer detailed Speech and Language Assessments designed to help you gain a deeper understanding of your child's communication and language abilities. Our assessments examine how these language skills influence various aspects of their development, including communication and social, emotional, behavioral and academic functioning.


We bring our services to your home through tele-assessment so we can cater to all, including those outside of our service area. 


Speech & Language assessments screen for the following: 

  • Expressive & Receptive Language Delays
  • Speech Sound Disorders
  • Social Communication Delays
  • Motor Speech Disorders
  • Fluency (Stuttering) Disorders
  • Articulation Disorders


WHAT DOES THE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PROCESS LOOK LIKE?


A speech & language assessment includes the following components:

  • Consultation (obtaining child's medical and developmental history)
  • Review of prior evaluations, educational reports (if applicable)
  •  2 hours of formal testing 

                   Note: The length of testing varies from individual to individual. 

  • Questionnaires and rating scales completed by multiple sources (i.e., client, parent/guardian, teachers)
  • Feedback meeting
  • Detailed written report 
  • Recommendations to improve language and functioning at school and at home


*The cost of a complete speech and language assessment is $750.


The cost of a comprehensive speech and language assessment is $750. Should you wish to incorporate the speech and language evaluation into a psychoeducational assessment, an additional fee of $750 will apply, in addition to the standard psychoeducational assessment fee.

Speech and language assessments help identify  language and communication strengths and weaknesses. It highlights the underlying language needs that may be contributing to learning challenges, as well as those that affect social and emotional functioning. Based on these findings, the assessment offers recommendations and strategies to improve communication, academic performance, and social-emotional development in both home and school environments. Additionally, it provides the necessary documentation for obtaining educational supports and accommodations within the school system and for securing academic accommodations at the university or college level.

  • Speaks in short or incomplete sentences
  • Difficulty following instructions
  • Trouble understanding what others are saying
  • Frustrated when unable to express thoughts clearly
  • Difficulty recounting events in a clear and organized way
  • Confuses pronouns, verb tenses, or omits key words
  • Mispronounces words
  • Struggles to convey ideas effectively in writing
