Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals communicate, interact socially, and experience the world around them. While signs of autism often emerge in early childhood, many individuals, especially those with more subtle traits, may not receive a diagnosis until later in life.

Common characteristics of ASD include challenges with social interactions, understanding social cues, adapting to changes in routine, or managing sensory sensitivities. Many autistic individuals also have unique strengths such as strong attention to detail, deep interests, and creative problem-solving.

An Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment at Stride Psychology includes the following components:

• Intake Interview 
• Review of report cards and previous assessment reports (if applicable)
• 4 - 6 hours of testing (i.e., cognitive abilities, academic achievement)

                  Note: The length of testing varies from individual to individual. 

• Standardized diagnostic measures (e.g., ADI-R and/or other gold-standard tools)
• Behavioural and social communication observations
• Norm- referenced questionnaires completed by multiple sources (i.e., client, parent/guardian, teachers)
• Additional interviewing with parent and/or child/adolescent (if needed)
• Thorough review of all previous assessments and school records
• Feedback meeting to share the results and recommendations 
• Comprehensive written report
