Giftedness is identified when a child’s intellectual ability (FSIQ) or General Ability Index (GAI) falls in the range of 130 (+/- 5). Giftedness testing is helpful in determining whether a child would qualify for access to educational programs, specifically catered to children who are identified as gifted.
Applications to Westmount Charter School and the CBE Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program require testing completed by a Psychologist. Westmount Charter School requires IQ testing only, while the CBE GATE Program requires both IQ and academic achievement testing.

Yes. A gifted assessment report can provide the documentation often needed for gifted program applications, including Westmount Charter School and the CBE Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program. It can also help schools understand your child’s learning profile and guide enriched programming, IPPs, and classroom supports.
Gifted assessments can be completed starting at age 3 using age-appropriate measures to better understand a child’s cognitive abilities and learning profile. Families may pursue assessment in the preschool years when considering future school options, or later for gifted programming, applications, and educational planning.
